Grasshoppers, Crickets, Ladybugs

Many of my food inspirations come from my Mother In Law.  She's an excellent cook and comes from a very long line of great cooks [granny, sisters, aunts, etc], but I have to give credit to my Father In Law on this one.  He's gotten me hooked on The Grasshoppers!

What are Grasshoppers you ask?!

No silly, not the bugs!  [Ick puey]

Very simple recipe:

Jalapenos, Cream Cheese, and Bacon!  dats it!  Nada Mas!

My Father In Law usually makes these for appetizers when we get together on Sundays, so since he's sorta been slacking in that dept on the last few get togethers [eh hem...Hint Hint Hint Pa Pa D]...I've started making them at home so I can satisfy those cravings!

You already know that I don't go out of my way to buy ingredients just for a recipe OR  that I substitute what I already have...so here is my version of Grasshoppers, a.k.a Crickets... so says Payton.

I didn't have bacon at the time nor did I have any coupons or sales for bacon that I cared to buy, BUT I did find these yummy mini pepperoni pieces on sale at Randalls with my 1.50 coupon combined with my sale and final price was .25cents.  I was already stocked up on Cream Cheese and the Jalapenos were only .64 cents/lb. For less than a buck I made these scrumptious treats.  Payton named them "Lady Bugs on a Log"

My Father In Law has also made all sorts of combinations of these grasshoppers.  He's used shrimp, ground meat, turkey bacon...he's a pro at Grasshoppers!
