Q&A- My truths, My Myths Part 1

***FB friends, you can view original post HERE***

I've had some friends ask me if I ever go over my grocery budget, and the answer is Yes and No!  I know it's hard to think of spending only $300 month with a family of four, but it IS possible.  In fact, I try very hard to spend less than that every month and I have done so with much ease.  Overages are most often put towards our debt snowball, except for months where I need to re-stock certain staples.

So YES because:  This month [9/15 thru 10/14] was one of those months.  I had to restock on meat and TP this month and both tend to make a pretty big dent in the budget.

Here is my final spending for [9/15 through 10/14]
  • Can you tell I don't really care for Walmart?  I spend the most and get the least there.  Their "rollbacks" are not all that great and they have not been very coupon friendly.  Items I buy there will usually not have coupons or at the very least, the fewest of coupons.
  • Items in green were FREE transactions.  I love seeing these on a monthly basis.
  • I used last months overage of $55 for this month because I knew I would have to plan for restocking.
  • Even with buying more I only spent $18 over and still saved $36 dollars that will go towards our debt snowball
  • We did eat out this month...we wanted to treat ourselves.  Yes, eating out comes out of the grocery budget.  So if we didn't eat out, we really only would have been ~$4 over, but I'm still very happy with this outcome
NO, because we still end up saving money even on months where we have to buy a little more.
